1995 20 Cedis - Coin from Ghana

Similar to the one I posted before this one.  Same year as the 1995 one in the last post, too, except this is a 20 Cedis.  Pictured is a 1997 to show condition.  Mine is in very good condition.  It's listed as a common coin, however.  On auction sites it's going for under $1 to $3, roughly, US dollar, that is. It's much lighter in weight than the 50.  I did find THIS WIKI Page to be very interesting when it came to the history of the Cedi in Ghana.

1995 50 Cedis - Coin From Ghana

I have a 1995 Coin from Ghana that has 50 Cedis on it and it's in really good condition.  On the side with the drums it has a little bit of stickiness to it but I'm sure it will clean up nicely.

It looks like it's valued at between $1 and $3 US on most sites I have seen.  It seems heavier than most coins I have in my collection.  It's considered a common coin in Ghana.

1978 Rupee India with Mint Mark

So I have this Rupee from India but the one I have has a small diamond shaped mint mark under the year 1978.  I think it might be a Mumbai Type 1 but I'm not completely sure.  I was looking at THIS SOURCE and it was one of the best description sites I have found.  This is another good source when it comes to explaining the mint marks.

Because of all of the factors I have in this coin - I will need more info.  It's it pretty good shape.  The security edges are still clear and the lion is pretty defined still.  From what I have read there are 4 different lions and I'm still trying to find which lion I have.  I'm pretty sure it's a Type 1.

1917 Deutsches Reich Pfennig - Coin From Germany

I'm posting this photo so you can see what this coin looks like.  Mine is a 1917 not the 1922 as pictured above.  Mine is covered in dark goo.  Much like in the picture of the bottom of this SOURCE.

I really need more info on this coin because it seems like it could be quite valuable even in the poor condition I have mine in.  WHY?  Because mine has the beads surrounding the Eagle but I can't tell if it has the mint mark or not due to its condition.  READ MORE ABOUT THIS HERE.

This is another good SOURCE.

More info needed!

Morocco 25 Centimes 1921 - 1924

See THIS POST for more info.  The difference with this post is - this one has a hole.

25 CENTIMES (with hole)
worn: $1 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated (like our picture): $5
well preserved: $10
fully uncirculated: $30

10 Agorot Israel Coin 1961

Obverse - Date palm tree

Lettering: ישראל اسرائيل

Reverse Value Lettering:  10 אגורות תשכ"ב

Engraver: G., M. Shamir

Edge Smooth Comments

How to undertand if 1961 is with “Fatha” in Arabic legend: small line over letter ra (ر‎) in “Israel”:

this one is common (without Fatha) and the one that I have in my possession:

25 Centimes 1924 France

Obverse : R F at both sides of central hole, phrygian cap above and two olives branches.
Reverse : 25 and CMES at both sides of central hole; "LIBERTE-EGALITE-FRATERNITE", above and two olive branches and (date) below, cornucopia at left and torch at right.

From what I can see this is currently being sold on auction sites from $1 to $7 US.  Mines is in fairly good shape for a 1924 coin.

50 Centimes Empire Cherifien - No Date - From Morocco

SOURCE: Empire Cherifien is an old term used for the French Protectorate of Morocco. Morocco became independent of prior French and Spanish influence in 1956. Until then, coinage was difficult for Westerners to discern because of its Arabic inscriptions and dating system.  Coins with an encircled 5 pointed star on one side were minted in 25 and 50 centime, and 1 franc, denominations from 1921 to 1924. They are made of nickel, except the 25 centimes coin with a round hole at its center is made of copper-nickel.
These are basically modern coins but are interesting for collectors. As always, values improve with condition, and coins with problems, like scratches, stains, cleanings, nicks, gouges, and similar damage, are worth about zero.

50 CENTIMES worn: $1 US dollars approximate catalog value average circulated (like above picture): $3 well preserved: $6 fully uncirculated: $18

This is from Tunisia.  The calendar/lettering is Islamic.  This coin is aged and a bit rough and chalky to the touch.  I've seen them listed for $4 to $24 US.  I would like some more info on this coin.  I don't think they are used anymore from what I have read.

UPDATE: I actually have 3 of these in my possession.  They are both from the same year, 1942, and about in the same aged condition.

From France and made of Nickel.  Source for info & photo.

Mine is in VERY good shape.  Nothing visibly wrong with it.  Like new.  When I looked for ones that were selling a few websites were currently sold out.  Unsure on value.

1964 Cincuenta Centavos

On the front - 1964 Cincuenta Centavos with the letter M next to the year as shown here.  From what I have read this is the equivalent of the 50 cent piece in Mexico.
On the back - just what is shown here.  Comparable to the condition shown in both photos.  It looks like it's going for anywhere between $3 and $6.50 US at the current time on certain sites.

1963 Half Penny

The 1963 UK halfpenny obverse features the laureate bust of young Queen Elizabeth II facing right, with the surrounding legend:

'+ELIZABETH-II-DEI-GRATIA-

REGINA-F:D:'

The reverse shows a depiction of Sir Francis Drake's galleon, the 'Golden Hind'. The words 'HALF PENNY' are above the main design, and the date is below.

SOURCE for photo and description.  Mine is a little darker due to age but everything is still readable.  From what I can see there are still a lot of these being used today and they aren't rare by any means.  I really like it because of the ship.

1947 UK Penny

The 1947 UK penny obverse features the bare head of King George VI facing left, with the surrounding legend:

'GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX

F:D:IND:IMP.'

The reverse shows Britannia seated facing right, wearing a helmet, holding a trident, hand resting on a shield, with the words 'ONE PENNY' in the fields, and date below.  A lighthouse is in the background to the left of Britannia.

Photo & Description SOURCE.  I'm unsure on value.

The condition of mine is darker/aged but no damage.  It would probably clean up well.

1988 $50 Juarez - Coin From Mexico

Similar in condition - this is the front of the 1988 $50 Juarez coin I have.  It also has a small 'o' over 'm' as pictured here, too.  On the back it reads...Estados Unidos Mexicanos with the following visual...

It appears coin collectors are interested in these currently for $13 to $16 US, again, depending on the condition.  I feel mine is in good shape.  Shiny, clear, little to no scuff marks, etc.

1995 New Penny

Also in my collection is a 1995 New Penny.  This is close to the shape mine is in being gently aged.  It's Copper Steel from what I can find and I have seen people say it's worth .013 US up to 40 cents US depending on the condition.  I'm assuming mine is on the lower end of the scale.

1981 New Penny

This is the closest I could find of the coin I have, however, this isn't a picture of the one I have in my collection.  I grabbed it from an eBay seller to show the detail.  The one I have in my possession is much more aged.  Still in ok shape for being a 1981  tho.

The one on eBay that is in this primo condition is listed for $5.55 US.  I know mine isn't worth that.  I'm just really excited to have it in my collection, regardless.

1994 2 Pence Elizabeth II

On the front - Elizabeth II D-G-REG-F-D-1994.

Copper Steel, I believe.  It seems to be in pretty good shape.  Once a few subtle fingerprints.  Everything is REALLY readable.  I'm sure it will buff out and clean up nicely.

On the back - Two Pence.  Mine is more shiny that shown in this picture.  Unsure of value.

1987 Singapore 20 Cents

Lucky me!  I found the exact coin I was looking for!  This is a pic I found online of the 1987 Singapore 20 cents coin I found in my collection.

From what I could see online it currently goes on eBay for a solid dollar reserve US.

The one I have seems to be in fair to good condition....but then again I am not a professional coin guru.

Blissful World Coins & Finds

I am by no means a pro coin collector.  Years ago I was really into pen-paling and at one point a few of my pen pals and I swapped coins.  Recently I busted open my Foreign Coin box I kept for so long and wanted a way to 'remember them' or archive them while learning more about the coins.  I thought I would build a blog for this occasion. Once I have all of my coins added I'm sure I will continue to post more here as I have many online friends these days and love learning about their countries, cultures, and such.
